Our Story...
The Legacy Basketball story matches our team values: hard work, focus, teamwork, responsibility, and dedication!
During the 2012-2013 rec season, we had a group of girls who were not ready to be done playing when the season was over. Quite simply, they loved the sport and wanted to sign up for more. In those early days, we worked with other programs to keep the team playing.
As our ambitions for the team blossomed, we soon found that we were limited within other programs. Whether because of disorganization, player commitment, politics, or cost, we knew we could serve our players better.
It was time to begin our LEGACY.
We quickly had another coach bring over a team, and then had interest from boys, and a group of older girls. With our stated program goals, we continue to grow, open our doors to players and teams, and raise the expectations of basketball in this region.
Program Goals
- Allow Basketball-focused players an opportunity to grow, advance, train, and play with like-minded players. Provide advance players and teams exposure for next-level opportunities.
- Keep all costs transparent to players and families, and do whatever we can assist families with financial concerns. We never exclude a player that is willing to commit and work hard. We also feel it is unfair to charge players to try-out, and remain steadfast to not exclude ambitious players.
- Be as organized and communicative with families and players as possible. We are a volunteer run organization, so rely on extra efforts of parents and coaches. We have made investments to enable our teams to be in constant contact.
- Make sure all basketball activities are purposeful, from each and every practice, to the games we play, to film study, to basketball homework.
- Teach and enforce the +1 attributes of discipline and respect. These transcend the basketball court and will be paramount to development.
Player Goals
To keep it simple, every time a basketball is in your hand, or you’re on the basketball court, you should be advancing. The player MUST be focused, determined, and willing to sacrifice. This cannot and will not be coached, but will be enforced. We will teach, instruct, and adapt training for both the team and the player so they can not only reach his/her potential, but advance well beyond any preconceived limits.
